30303 – Marcelline Noir

Black square glasses become the defining feature of Marcelline Noir, a frame built around generous proportions and a clean, uninterrupted outline. The lenses have a broad square shape with softened corners, creating substantial height and width without introducing sharp geometric edges. A glossy black full-rim front gives the silhouette a clear, polished border.

The upper section follows a smooth horizontal sweep across both lenses before dipping gently toward the bridge. Rather than using the strongly faceted brow seen on Vantrel Noir, Marcelline Noir keeps its front surface relatively simple. The rounded outer corners then flow into long side edges and softly curved lower rims, giving the frame its oversized square character.

A wide integrated bridge is moulded directly into the front. Its opening is relatively narrow at the top before widening below, creating a defined central shape while maintaining the continuous black construction. There are no separate adjustable nose pads visible, so the bridge and inner frame surfaces provide the nose support.

From the side, the temples are noticeably more restrained than the oversized front might suggest. Straight black arms leave the outer hinges with a relatively uniform width, then taper subtly before turning downward near the tips. The design avoids contrasting colours or elaborate ornamentation, allowing the relationship between the large front and clean side profile to remain the main visual feature.

The glossy finish also changes how the frame reads from different angles. Light follows the upper rim and outer corners, highlighting the smooth transitions in the moulded construction. Because there are no patterns, translucent sections or prominent metallic decorations, the black surface remains consistent throughout the frame.

Marcelline Noir is therefore less about intricate detailing and more about scale and proportion. The large square lenses make an immediate visual impact, while the softened corners and simple temple structure stop the frame from appearing overly rigid. Its full-rim construction provides a clear enclosure for prescription or clear optical lenses without taking away from the bold square silhouette.
